  1- 1	COMMUNICATION SKILL The ability to communicate effectively in speaking and writing is one of the most important skills for educational and career success. This course gives students opportunities to discuss, practice, and eventually master the skills involved in oral and written communication. The topics include theory and practice of effective communication, making speeches, presentation skills, principles of persuasion, and writing skills.
  1- 1	PRACTICAL ENGLISH The aim of the course is to help students develop basic English verbal skills in real life situations. The course will be co-taught by Korean and Native English instructors. Korean instructors will provide students with basic English structure, vocabulary, and expressions, and students will be encouraged to practice speaking English utilizing basic English structures. Students will further practice expressing themselves in English with native English instructors.
  1- 1	SEMINAR FOR ACADEMIC LIFE 1. Summary of the course This course is to assist university freshmen in CRM designing to adapt university life well through the instruction and counselling of supervising professor. (This course is composed of self analysis, personality type test, career research, instruction for the success of university life, career plan and direction setting, CRM designing method and CRM designing. The course should be teaching in classes of the students by supervising professor.) 2. Course objectives This course is to motivate the students before the mid term exam and provide students with self analysis, personality type test (MBTI or TCI) and career research (YAT test). Also, this course shall has a plan to instruct the students to enhance the efficiency of university life through career and time management. In addition, this course is to make a chance for the students to have practical assistance to university life by providing study method, report designing strategy and the information on academic system and various kinds of internal programs of the university. After the mid term exam, the students will be instructed to set the direction of career designing through continuous counselling of supervising professor and the students will be able to establish CRM designing and execution plan.
  1- 1	SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION AND SERVICE This course is to cultivate community sense as members of society and the global village for students in order to develop the basic knowledge required as global citizens. Especially, this course is to foster the spirit of cooperation, sharing, service, and creativity and study the social contribution and leadership to solving the challenges the global community faces. As a liberal arts course, it is centered to nurture a leader having the global capability to contribute to community development through learning the knowledge and the case on the value & logic of social responsibility focused on environmental preservation, social contribution, and good governance(ESG). This course aims to foster a generous mind, learn knowledge and technology and build the capacity to contribute to building a society towards a safer and happier world through the study of theory and practice.
  1- 1	THE SECRET OF LANGUAGE This course aims to improve the understanding of the world languages, which is a basic prerequisite for Korean language education experts. It is because, the understanding of foreign languages and other cultures is required in order to effectively teach Korean language to foreigners at home and abroad. To achieve this goal, this course explores the current status of world languages, the status of Korean language, the birth and evolution of languages, the value of linguistic diversity, the universality of world languages, and the specificity of individual languages. In addition, it enhances the understanding of foreign languages and other cultures by exploring the way of thinking of human and culture aspects hidden in languages.
  1- 2	ART AND EDUCATION The purpose of this course is to gain a broader perspective on desirable human formation and growth and wisdom of life from the educational standpoint by researching the historical development of human formation from ancient times to the present, focusing on artistic works, images, and stories, which are the cultural products of that period. Based on this, we try to comprehend how homo educandus has evolved and developed at what temporal, social and cultural background. In addition, we aim to cultivate the perspective and ability to diagnose and solve contemporary life or educational problems from a historical point of view, and to raise 'creative human' that this present age demands.
  1- 2	SOFTWARE AND AI Software and AI (Artificial Intelligence) course aims to educate the basic concepts of software and computational thinking to use them in various applications. It allows students of various majors to experience the core technologies of the 4th industrial revolution, such as big data, machine learning, and AI. It also introduces various applications of AI so that students can easily apply these technologies to their field of study. This course classifies the lecture types into three categories, and adjust the lecture difficulty according to the student's academic ability.

  2- 2	SPEAKING SKILLS OF COMMUNICATION AND EMPATHY 1. The purpose of the course development This course is related to global initiative competency and practical professional competency among the goals of Yeungnam University’s human resources training. Leaders in the 21st century should combine the skills to achieve industrialisation of human resources, know the importance of ours, and pride themselves on communicating with people around the world in Korean and with Korean culture. Through this course, we will cultivate global leaders with cultural convergence and cultural embracing, and global human resources who can work around the world. 2. Development Overview This is a major elective course in the Department of Global Education. Communication education is added to the know-how of Korean language education, multicultural education, and global citizenship education. To this end, full-time teachers, who are field experts in Korean language education, and adjunct teachers, who are announcers at broadcasting stations, collaborate to let students gain practical skills. Practical team teaching classes are conducted through convergence of specialised areas. As educational content, it mainly deals with purpose-oriented communication, perception and empathy for the speaking partner, generational empathy, and perception of differences between cultures. In addition, students conduct interviews, official greetings, etc. at specific speaking sites, and actually train clear and accurate pronunciation. This process includes dealing with speech anxiety and reflecting on one’s own speech. 3. Expected Effect Through this course, we develop the ability to utilise faithful basic skills and major knowledge as professsionals, and seek opportunities to cross the boundaries of universities and academic fields. As a result, students will experience a ‘major’ subject that has more practicality than the ‘culture’ subject. And through speaking that clearly conveys oneself and coexists with neighbours, students will experience “citizens of the world” beyond the concept of state.
